Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic restrictions, Tactful Elite Security Solutions (TESS) has not provided Access Control Security Services for a major venue since March of 2020. That finally all changed this past Saturday December 12 , 2020 when Tactful Elite Security Solutions was on-hand to reopen the Maxwell C. King Center for Brevard Symphony Orchestras presentation of Sounds of The Season. The concert was a tremendous success. A balance was achieved where the attendees maintained social distance and adhered to the safety protocols that TESS & management of the Maxwell C. King Center had put in place specifically for this event.
Unfortunately this past March a series of sweeping COVID-19 mandates were issued at both the state and county level. These lockdown restrictions prevented the majority of Brevard County venues from hosting these types of events (concerts, major performances and/or general public assemblies). During this down time TESS worked hard alongside our clients with both local and state authorities to develop a strategic plan comprised of a series of safeguards and operational procedural updates. This comprehensive plan was designed specifically to bring venues in-line with established COVID-19 safety recommendations as well as both State and Federal guidelines allowing venues throughout Brevard to once again begin safely hosting these types of major events.
TESS has long been a leading Event Security provider in Central Florida since 2014. In that time, TESS established an reputation for providing outstanding security services to countless Florida venues, events & concerts or varying types. That experience coupled with our constant commitment to continued education, training and an ever-evolving approach to implementing new security and access control strategies designed to enhance safety for event attendees as well as venue management and staff.
Security screening & Bag check Area :
- Security personnel required to perform security or responsible for health checks will wear appropriate PPE at all times while conducting these checks.
- Security staff using wands will wear appropriate PPE and ensure the wand does not come into contact with customers (guests, visitors and / or attendees, etc.).
- A secondary screening location will be established for guests who fail to clear the initial screening.
Security Checks:
- Security checks may occur before entering the venue or immediately after entering.
- Security checks include security screening of the guest, bag checks, and coat checks.
- Security screening to maintain social distancing, all security screening measures will be adjusted to accommodate a 6 foot distance between guests as they are processed through security.
- Walk-through metal detectors or magnetometers are effective at detecting metallic objects while allowing security workers to maintain social distance and will be used if possible. To maintain a 6 foot social distance between event personnel, where needed, it may be necessary to stagger the metal detectors.
- Handheld metal detectors – Handheld metal detectors (sometimes referred to as “wands” or “wanding”) are a less costly alternative to walk-through metal detectors and still allow for no-contact metal detection.
Best practice options:
- Encourage guests to not bring bags into the facility, with exceptions for medicine or personal hygiene products.
- Encourage guests to reduce the number of personal items they bring into the facility
- If not already adopted, consider adopting a clear bag policy requiring that all items fit into a clear bag where they can be reviewed without touching them.
